Introduction
A little bit about myself...
Hi, my name is Jackie Longino Davidson. I am a self taught and self representing contemporary artist. I have loved experiencing and creating art since I was a young girl. I grew up in Louisville Kentucky, but have come to love the Gulf Coast of Alabama and have called it home for the last thirty years. I am happiest when I have a brush in hand, a palette of paint at the ready, and a canvas before me. Thoughts and emotions that are usually guarded and protected are freely spilled out and shared with the world through my art.
Education:
I have no art degree or formal training, other than studying watercolor with Russ Hempstead twenty years ago. His classes gave me a good foundation of the basic techniques that I still use today. I paint with watercolor primarily, but have ventured into color pointillism, acrylics and recently, pastels.
Workshops:
I spent a wonderful week participating in a Sumi-e workshop with Mary Rodning in Mobile about 15 years ago. Her serene personality contributed so much to the experience of learning the brush stroke techniques of a very exacting art form.
I recently attended a one-day ArtBiz workshop with Alyson B. Stanfield: http://www.artbizcoach.com. That was a great experience! I took copious notes on her tips concerning how to be effective in marketing my artwork personally, rather than entrusting such an important aspect of my business to a stranger. You can sign up for her newsletter for great information and upcoming events/workshops.
Associations and Current Exhibits:
I've been associated with several different art associations over the years...The Mobile Art Association, the Eastern Shore Art Association, and currently, as a member of the Singing River Art Association, Inc. in Pascagoula, MS and the Mobile Arts Council.
You can view some of my artwork at the Koch Gallery on St. Joseph Street in Mobile, Alabama.
